When it comes to WiFi, are we exposed to more radiation from routers in schools or in homes? This is what electrical engineer and Director of Powerwatch has to say: (a) The school routers that I have measured have not been worse (i.e. more powerful) than home routers per se. There are also often many of them (1 to 3 routers per classroom or hall are common) which increases the RF power density.

Research Updates on ELF fields (from electrical sources) Genes - Scientists from China investigated the genetic impact of magnetic fields from electrical sources on mouse sperm cells. They showed that exposure affected DNA methylation (which controls gene expression). (Liu, Y et al, Biomed Res Int, 2015.) Cells - Researchers from Korea investigated the effects of power-frequency magnetic fields on several different cell lines.

A new report by the BioInitiative Working Group finds increased evidence of risk from electrical and wireless sources. The 2012 Report by the BioInitiative Working Group has concluded that evidence of risk from EMR-emitting technologies justifies new standards that greatly reduce public exposure. ‘There is now much more evidence of risks to health affecting billions of people world-wide. The status quo is not acceptable in light of the evidence for harm,’ said Dr David Carpenter

In the first study of its kind, scientists have found that children exposed to mobile phone radiation early in life were more than usually prone to headaches. The scientists investigated over 52,000 children in Denmark who were part of the Danish National Birth Cohort—a project in which women, pregnant between 1996 and 2002, agreed to provide information about their children over a period of time. When they investigated the exposure of the children, the scientists found that 39%

Spending too much time in front of the screen is having a devastating effect on the lives of children, says a prominent pediatrician from Sweden. ‘Many children spend most of their waking hours in front of the screen,’ said Professor Hugo Lagercrantz in January, writing in the journal of the Swedish Medical Association. This includes time spent on DVDs, computers, laptops, smart phones, video games and TVs—often in multiple rooms of a house.

A considerable lowering of guidelines and exposure to wireless microwave radiation, to a biologically-based precautionary level, with a peak-level maximum of 0.6 V/m as recommended by the BioInitiative report. Information and official warnings for the general public, regarding the health risks from wireless microwave radiation – with emphasis on increased risks for pregnant women and children.

A collaboration of international scientists has identified health problems from low levels of EMR from electrical and communications technology. Exposure to even everyday levels of radiation from electrical and communications technologies can have harmful effects on the body — and international standards are inadequate to protect public health. These are among the conclusions of the report of the BioInitiative Working Group released in late August.

German parents have received official advice to limit their children’s use of mobile phones. Wolfram König, the head of the nation’s Federal Radiation Protection Office, recommends that children not use mobile phones. He has also recommended that mobile phone base stations not be erected near sensitive areas such as kindergartens, schools and hospitals.
